Located east and west of Franklin Boulevard, where you arrive via bridge from the mainland in Eastpoint, St. George Island Gulf Beaches was first platted in the early 1950s and consists of a four mile area (two miles on either side of bridge). The lots are approximately 1/3 acre in size and have the fewest building restrictions on the Island. A wide range of residential beach homes has been built, from the old fashioned ground level to the new 2-story homes built on pilings.


 

Eight foot right-of- ways, between each beachfront lot, provide easy beach access. The commercial area, which includes the Villas of St. George, Island Cottages, and the St. George Island Lighthouse Park, divides the two residential areas. For the outdoor enthusiasts, there is a bicycling and jogging path along the south side of Gulf Beach Drive, extending from 12th Street West to the State Park.
